FEP HTTP

The first part of FEP was called General Orientation. Divided into 5 batches, it began from 18th July 2016 and ended at 27th August 2016 in which a batch occurs for a week. After FEP ended at 27th, there was a Conviction Ceremony to end the General Orientation and to inaugurate the freshman into a Binusian at 30th August 2016.

The batches were differed alphabetically. The first was called AAS, second BAS, third CAS, fourth DAS, and the last EAS.

I was put into the 4th batch, DAS and my class was DAS04 consisting of all Computer Science students and, yes, you’re right, the majority of the students were males. Our class consist of 48 students and apparently, only 6 students were female ……. 🙁

In General Orientation, there were group of seniors called Buddy Coordinators (BC). Freshman themselves were called Buddies. Buddy Coordinators were obliged to guide the buddies throughout the FEP. Us, the freshman were to come up with some cheers and a video promoting Binus University’s 35th Anniversary with the theme “For Greater Nusantara”.

Later on, this Buddy Coordinators were supposed to deliver some presentation to us freshman about the University’s regulation, courses, attendance, examinations card, Student Activity Transcript, anthem, autodebet system, websites and so on.

We were also given a lecture by our Vice Rector Student Affairs & Community Development, Drs. Andreas Chang, MBA about Binus University’s Way making Binus as it is right now.

Aside from that, we were also introduced to several Students Organizations ranging from learning to sports club. These organizations are the place for us to improve our soft skills in the future while studying at Binus University.

The fifth day, all of the classes were again divided into 6 classes according to beliefs.

The sixth day of the FEP we were required to perform our classes’s cheers in front of all buddies and Buddy Coordinators in a Gathering event. We had fun and soon after the gathering, there was an expo held by the Student Organizations in order to recruit the freshman into their Organization. We were supposed to choose any Organization that we wanted to join and there was no coercion.

The last day was the Conviction Ceremony. We were told to go to Jakarta Convention Center to attend our ceremony there. It was divided into 2 shifts. The first shift with majority of Kemanggisan’s Campus students and the second one with Alam Sutera’s Campus students, and i was in the second shift because i am an Alam Sutera Campus’s student. In the ceremony, we were given a speech by our Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Harjanto Prabowo, MM to inaugurate us and there were several performances like dance, singing, magic, etc. And that ceremony was the closing of our General Orientation.

Briefly speaking, i had fun in the General Orientation. I met new friends from all ages (freshman to seniors)and I also joined several Organization in which i hope to improve my soft skills on.
